University of Arizona Police have arrested the suspect accused of shooting and killing a Pima Community College student on Sunday.
Ryan Romero-Encinas was arrested and taken into custody on first-degree murder charges on Wednesday at an apartment complex on Wetmore Road around 3:30 p.m, according to a UAPD statement.
Romero-Encinas was the only suspect named following Sunday's on-campus shooting. The victim was identified late Monday as Minhaj Jamshidi.
According to a statement released by Pima Community College's Chancellor Jeffrey P. Nasse, he took classes in Building and Construction Technology.
UAPD's initial reports say Jamshidi was shot after an altercation on the volleyball courts near the Arizona-Sonora Residence Hall near Park Avenue and Fourth Street.
Romero-Encinas fled the site of the shooting on foot, and in the days following law enforcement served search warrants at two Tucson locations that did not end in arrest. University police also enlisted the help of Tucson Police, Pima SWAT crews, the FBI, and U.S. Marshals.
