Arvo Pärt’s work integrates seemingly opposite elements — silence and concentrated sound, harmony and melody, the divine and the mundane, suffering and consolation — and speaks directly to the soul. To honor his 85th birthday, the Choir and Chamber Orchestra of St. Philip’s in the Hills and violinist Ellen Ensey will perform a selection of Arvo Pärt’s works for strings, percussion, and choir, including Fratres, Adam’s Lament, and Salve Regina. Free concert. May 15at 3pm. Pre-concert talk at 2:30, Saint Philip’s in the Hills, 4440 N. Campbell Avenue.
