Former state Senator David Bradley, a Democrat who represented Tucson in the Legislature for 16 years, died Saturday at age 69.
Born in Seattle, Bradley was a Navy veteran, social worker and licensed professional counselor. He is also a past chair and vice-chair of the Pima County Democratic Party.
A member of the state House of Representatives from 2003 to 2011, he was elected to the Senate in 2012 and spent his final two years in office — from 2019 through 2020 — as minority leader.
Gov. Doug Ducey ordered flags lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset Sunday, February 20 in Bradley’s honor.
“During his time in the Senate, he lived as an example that working across the aisle, for a common good, benefits all Arizonans,” Ducey said in a statement. “Whether by expanding educational opportunities for foster kids, addressing the opioid epidemic, or passing the Drought Contingency Plan, he made a lasting impact on our state.”
