Ansel Adams played a critical role in founding the Center for Creative Photography in 1975. Since then, the CCP has become the largest collection of North American photography in the world, with more than five million archival objects from many of the biggest names in photography. Ansel was born on February 20, 1902 and the center recently started celebrating his birthday with an annual event. In 2018, his birthday coincided with a new exhibition ‘Performing the Print’ which showcases Adams’ masterful work. The CCP’s new director, Anne Breckenridge Barrett tells us why his legacy is enduring.
