Racing the Sun

More than 100 students from 12 schools take part in a annual solar-powered go-kart race sponsored by the University of Arizona's Tech Parks Arizona. by Sara Hammond

For six years, high school students from across the state have designed, built and raced solar powered go-karts in a competition sponsored by the University of Arizona’s Tech Parks Arizona. On a windy day in late April, more than 100 students from 12 schools took to a track south of Tucson to test their teamwork and problem solving.
