Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton are tied at 42 percent among likely voters in Arizona, a post-debate poll released Thursday said.
The poll, by OH Predictive Insights of Phoenix, reached "718 likely Democratic, Republican, independent and non-declared voters across Arizona," the polling firm said in a press release. It said 9 percent of likely voters in the state were undecided.
A poll in late August from OH Predictive, which describes itself as an independent pollster, showed Clinton with a 1 percentage point lead over Trump. Of seven surveys since then by various polling firms, four showed Trump ahead and three showed Clinton ahead. The margins all were in single digits.
The Sept. 28-30 poll, taken a few days after the first Trump-Clinton debate, had a margin of error of 3.66 percent, meaning the results could be off by that much in one direction or another because of how the sample list of voters was selected.
“Given the excitement of this election season, voters are paying close attention to the presidential contest,” said Mike Noble, managing partner of OH Predictive Insights and chief pollster. “Voters in Arizona are no exception, with approximately 81 percent of likely Arizona voters tuning in to the first presidential debate.”
The poll also showed Libertarian presidential candidate Gary Johnson with 5 percent support in Arizona and Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein with 1 percent.
