TPD officer Charley Foley wanted to give back to the community so he founded a group that is restoring flagpoles and bringing back Old Glory to different spots around the city, especially downtown and midtown Tucson where he patrols. Foley and coworker Brad Clark established “Flags for the Flagless” on Flag Day (June 14) in 2014 and they are celebrating one year of hoisting or donating nearly 200 Stars and Stripes in southern Arizona and as far as Brooklyn, New York. Someone there heard about the group on social media and the officers were invited to an event for Flag Day 2015 where they handed out 30 flags at a public school.
