The tough economy and life's circumstances can create many challenges for women who are unemployed or underemployed.
The Skills for Successful Employment workshops, which is part of YWCA of Tucson, seek to provide help through a four-day skills training program for women who are dealing with such circumstances.
The program also helps women, who are changing careers or seeking advancement in their current job.
YWCA program leaders assess the personal skills and interests of the participants.
They focus on teaching successful interview skills, developing job search strategies, improving computer skills and creating an effective résumé, as well as review various education and training options that are available to women. Also, they offer a free five-day wardrobe, which includes clothing, shoes, and accessories.
Following the workshops, the YWorks program offers women follow-up consultations with one-on-one employment coaching and job search strategy sessions.
Employment skills workshops take place the second and third Tuesday of each month, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
